Text Box: Welcome to LA Child, the official newsletter of LALC. The timing couldn’t be any better to introduce September’s Big Activity—Emergent Literacy and Reading Readiness Month! We focus on various aspects of reading readiness and will share with you facts and figures, activities to do at home and even tips on how your child can catch the reading bug!
Why reading? Because reading skills help your child take on other challenges in and outside the classroom. It gives him Text Box: the advantage of acquiring new skills and ultimately, learning more even on his own.
As a parent, you are an essential part of the reading process. Just like when he first learned to talk, he will pick up the skills and habits you show him. But unlike language acquisition, reading is not as natural as talking. Your child needs you as his model to encourage him to read. By seeing reading as a natural and enjoyable hobby, your child learns to see the joy in the activity. The goal is to make reading Text Box: a fun and learning experience. And this will ultimately develop excellence in everything he does.
It is also noteworthy to mention that we are welcoming the month with the acquisition of 100+ books for your child’s enjoyment. We will be placing them in the library in a “New Books” corner for your easy reference.
Enjoy reading!

Text Box: LALC Watches Cinderella at On-Stage Greenbelt
Text Box: The Little Archers Learning Center’s first field trip happened last August 25, 2007. The entire Learning Center went to the OnStage Theater in Greenbelt to watch Repertory Philippines’ production of Walt Disney’s Cinderella Text Box: Kids at 10:30am. Even if the experience was a first for many kids, they all enjoyed the wonderful story about Cinderella. The story taught the values of patience and perseverance and showed all of us that yes, dreams still do come true and there is much to
Text Box: hope for. Cinderella’s story relates to the same values little children need when faced with everyday adversities like sharing, taking turns and being kind to others. It is a story we’ve all loved for ages and now we can share it with our kids too!
