“The Yellow Archers’ first term was full of adventures! From shy & quiet students, the Yellow Archers blossomed into cheerful, energetic & excited individuals, eager to explore and learn everyday. They learned the alphabet through music and movement. We even used arts and crafts activities like decorating letters, coloring and painting. We also practiced writing their names. To enhance their senses, they tasted, smelled, heard, felt and looked at different types of food, objects and materials. We learned numbers were through games and activities and not just through rote counting and memorization. Aside from their academic subjects and school work, they learned the 5 Class Rules and adjusted to our classmates’ different temperaments. I look forward to the next few months and to continue the journey of fun, learning and excellence. I’m sure it’ll be a great adventure!”

"The Purple Archers had lots of fun activities last term. Part of the goals we had was the development of their fine motor and pre-writing skills. One activity they love very much is painting. We painted with our hands and fingers, with brushes, leaves and vegetables. Another activity which they find enjoyable and interesting is cutting. They cut paper into different shapes and sizes with their little hands. The development of their social skills is another equally important aspect that we have looked into. Each month, the toddlers grew not only in number (we started with 16 students and now have 19!), but also in their ability to deal with the different personalities inside the classroom. It is truly amazing how these very young children are able to form bonds and friendships with each other. As we continue with the school year, I look forward to joining you, the parents, in witnessing and reinforcing the improvements in each child. :) "

“The Blue and Green archers are on their way to reading on their own. Mastering the phonetic sounds of letters gave them an increased sense of confidence. ‘I am starting to read like you’ one student says. This confidence makes them want to try reading words from storybooks on their own, but we still have a long way to go! Math has been fun. We try to limit our use of paper and pencils. Instead, we count by moving our bodies, doing things and having fun. The kids are experiencing Mathematics, and they love it! Our exploration in science took us inside our bodies. Kids are amazed at all the things found inside-bones, organs, blood and many gooey stuff. They don’t mind the big words but they sure like to know what doctors know. They didn’t learn from just looking at pictures, they watched a video, played games and made believe they’re doctors. We hope we will see one or two of them becoming physicians someday.”

The LALC Faculty attended the ADHD Seminar last July 28 at the Department of Education, Pasig City. We gained insight in the many aspects surrounding diagnosis, treatment and teaching implications. It was a great experience and we’d love to share it with you. More on that in the next newsletter!
The Little Archers Learning Center welcomes teacher Michelle Uy to the LALC family! Teacher Michelle joins us as a newly licensed nurse, having successfully taken the Nursing Board Examinations last June 2007. She is a fun-loving, dedicated bundle of joy that always looks out for the welfare of the students placed under her care. Teacher Michelle never hesitates to go the extra mile in taking care of our Little Archers.
In the morning, Teacher Michelle can be found in the Purple Archers’ classroom, helping out teacher Carla with the day’s lessons. In the afternoon, she handles the day-care service of the school, providing fun and exciting activities for the children. “I really love working here at LALC”, she says.
