Text Box: Volume 2, Issue 1 First Trimester Schoolyear ‘08-’09 Text Box: The Little Archers Learning Center focused on the health and wellbeing of the entire LALC family last August by conducting a host of different activities. The most significant of these was the general thrust of the curriculum to focus on specific elements in our families that can facilitate healthier and happier living for all of us. The students were taught about several health risks, primary among these was an consistent review of food that is “good” and “bad” to eat. “Bad” food is especially difficult to tackle because it tastes too good sometimes! That’s why we Text Box: teach the kids that the best solution is in moderation. Health risks such as too much caffeine or nicotine were also brought the kids attention, with one student eventually saying to her father to blow his cigarette smoke far away from her, because it can turn her heart black from pink! We also had a safety and first-aid seminar last August 9, where over 20 parents were able to participate and learn important facts and techniques in handling household emergencies. Text Box: LSS.  Last Song Syndrome was how we could explain it.  A couple of days after watching Mulan, Jr. at the Greenbelt Theater last August 30, the kids were still humming the songs they heard from the play.  Their favorite of course, was “Reflection”, Text Box: and another was “Be a Man” (sung as “Bida Man”).  During snack time, they would still talk about the play and even ask for some of the songs to be played in the classroom.  Even the teachers would unconsciously sing the Text Box: songs after class hours.  It was exciting for the kids to see their friends in a different setting other than school.  Now we can’t wait for the next fieldtrip because it would be another enriching experience for both the kids and adults.    Text Box: Inside this issue: Text Box: HEALTH AND NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATED IN AUGUST!
